UPDATE: My college professor told me today that she also has been battling, Cytinosis. Which according to the Cystinosis Research Network is:
"Cystinosis is a rare disease that primarily affects children. Cytinosis is a genetic metabolic disease taht causes an amino acid, cystine, to accumulate in various organs of the body. Cystine crystals accumulate within the kidnesy, eyes liver, muscles, pangreas brain and white blood cells. Without specific treatment, childrne with cystinosis develop end stage kidney failure at approximately age nine.
"Cystinosis also causes compiclations in other organs of the body. The complications include muscle wasting, difficult swallowing, diabetes, and hypothyroidism. It is estimated that at least 2,000 individuals wordwide have cystinosis, though exact numbers are difficult to obtain because the disease is often undiagnosed and/ or misdiagnosed."
So. Now I am bit confused. I am not sure if she has BOTH Meningitus or just Cystinosis. My co-editor talked to her older sister and got the information about the meningitus part.
Thanks for all your prayers everyone! They really mean a lot to me...
all this has really got me thinking...about how delicate we humans really are...and how one minute you can be totally fine, and the next...you could be in the hospital...or worse.
I won't dwell on that though. I know that as Christians we are to live our lives the way God would have us to live. In all things we need to praise Him. He gives us life. He gives us purpose. Without him, there is no reason to exist.
