I need help. I feel kinda depressed...I don't know if the Lord is there or not. I'm not so sure if I belong to Him. If I don't have Him, I wanna know how to come back to Him...

Please pray.

Praying for you. Hang in there. Uncertainty happens to all of us, some more than others, but you need to keep praying and reading the scriptures.

There's nothing I or anyone else can probably say to alleviate the depression. That sort of thing leaves with time, unless you dwell on it and let it dig down deeper. Like I said, dwell on scripture instead. Do you know any Christians around where you live that you could talk to? That might also help...a stronger Christian can help you reaffirm your faith, and they might be able to relate to some of the doubt you're feeling now, and tell you what they did about it...

Hey man... I've struggled with feelings like that myself. But know that if you've accepted Christ as your Savior, these feelings aren't from God. The Bible says that God is not the author of confusion but of peace, and that God hasn't given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind.

Like QtheQreater said, get grounded in the Word, especially the parts that talk about God's love for us and about who we are in Christ. (I'd especially recommend the books of John and 1 John.) And when those feelings start coming into your minds, don't believe them; instead, stand on what the Bible says about who you are in Christ. It can be a challenge to do that, especially when Satan is pummeling your mind with thoughts of doubt. But God's Word is true, whether we feel like it or not.

All that isn't to say that we don't stumble from time to time, but Christ's blood is powerful enough to cover all our sins.

I'm lifting you up in prayer, bro. And if you need to talk to someone who's been there, feel free to PM me.
Theme Scripture: Stand fast therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and do not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage. (Galatians 5:1)

And a verse for all us single folks: Do we have no right to take along a believing wife, as do also the other apostles, the brothers of the Lord, and Cephas? (1 Corinthians 9:5)

Thank you everyone.

Freerock, do you have any passages you recommend in John?

I'll read about them.

I'm not Freerock, but I'd say just read all of 1 John, it's not a very big book. ;)

Sun.Ice, I think I know some of what you're going through. Off and on my whole life, I've struggled with uncertainty over whether I was really saved, whether I really belonged to God, as you put it. I think I've made some important steps in dealing with that recently.

I'm not sure what the best advice to give you is because I don't know how similar your situation really is to mine. But you're welcome to PM me or whatever if you want to talk about it.

Awwwww, I will pray. The lord knows when you are in pain and struggeling. In times like that he is often closer than what we sometime acknowlegde. God loves you.

Aw man, keep hanging in there. I definitely will pray for you.
And remember; depression can't be fought alone. Get some help from people you trust. The Bible says somewhere that "A wise man has many counselors".

I will keep you in my prayers.

Yeah, I'll pray for you. I've gone through this myself ALOT. From what I have found, the only solution is to trust God, no matter what. As hard as that may be, it is the only thing we can do.

No problem. Like RedMage said, really I'd recommend studying the entire books of John and 1 John (and probably throw Romans in there too), and really get grounded in them, if you want to get a good perspective of God's love for us and who we are in Christ.

But here are a few passages (from these and other books) to help you get started:

- John 1 - Defines Jesus' mission on earth and how God wanted to relate us to Himself as His children
- John 3:16-21 - Tells how the Father sent Jesus because He loved the world and wanted to save it, not to condemn it
- John 8:31-36 - The truth sets us free
- John 10:27-29 - Jesus gives us eternal life, and no one can take us from His hand
- John 15:13-16 - Jesus counts us as His friends
- Romans 5 - We are justified before God and now have peace with Him
- Romans 8 - Tells of God's love and goodness toward His children (including that we're not condemned, but that God works all things for our good, that He is for us, and that nothing can separate us from His love)
- 1 Corinthians 6:20 - We were bought with Christ's blood, and because God bought us, we now belong to Him
- Galatians 5 - We are free in Christ and no longer need to submit to bondage (including the bondage of fear)
- Ephesians 2 - We're saved--not by our good works, but by God's grace. And He has seated us in the heavenly places with Christ. (I believe this means that we don't have to accept a defeated mindset, because we're seated above that, with Christ. We do, however, have to choose to believe this.)
- Ephesians 6:10-18 - We don't have to fight the battle on our own; we are to take up the armor of God
- 1 John 1:7-2:2 - If we sin, Christ's blood cleanses us from it
- 1 John 3:1-9 - As children of God, it is no longer our nature to sin. (I don't think this passage means that we don't occasionally stumble. But I believe it means that as children of God, we're no longer defined by sin and don't have to beat ourselves up continually feeling like we are in sin.)
- Revelation 12:11 - We are overcomers by the blood of the Lamb and the word of our testimony.

I know this is a lot, but hey, there's a lot of good stuff in the Bible that tells us how much God loves us and who He's made us to be. I hope this helps, and you are in my prayer.

The fact that you're worried about this proves you care. A person who didn't love God would just be apathetic.

Yeah Sunny. You have been really worrying for a long time now. Well, I think you can stop worrying like that. Even though your mind may feel discouraged your heart will point towards God. You got a God that loves you greatly. The one who don't want you to get close to God is the devil.

Do not get dicouraged by attacks from the devil. I think that one of these days the devil will slap himself in the head saying. "Oh, look. I tried to weaken that person, but my constant attacking actualy made him stronger and more endurant". Because if you wheren't important to God then I can't see a reason for the devil to attack/tempt you.

God is a merciful, forgiveing and awesome God.

- John 15:13-16 - Jesus counts us as His friends

Yes, even though we do fail time and time again. We can seek forgiveness in Jesus. Jesus knew that man would fail many times, but he choosed to make the sacrefise for us, not against us. Because he loved us.

I do hope this has been somewhat encouraging for you. If you feel like it, then please send me a pm.

God bless you :)
